Team India has faced a significant setback as opener Pratika Rawal will not participate in the Women's ODI World Cup semi-final against Australia, set for Thursday, according to reports from ESPNcricinfo.
Rawal, who ranks as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, sustained an injury during Bangladesh's batting innings in India's last league match on Sunday. There are concerns she may also miss the final if India advances.
Details of the Injury
The injury occurred in the 21st over of Bangladesh's innings when Rawal attempted to intercept a ball in the deep, injuring her right foot. Consequently, she did not bat in the rain-affected match, leading to Amanjot Kaur opening the innings alongside Smriti Mandhana.
In this match, India Women showcased a strong bowling performance, limiting Bangladesh Women to a score of 119/9 in 27 overs during their rain-impacted ICC Women's Cricket World Cup encounter at DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Pratika Rawal's Performance in the Tournament
Throughout the Women's World Cup 2025, Rawal has accumulated 308 runs across six innings, boasting an impressive average of 51.33, which includes one century and one fifty, with her highest score being 122.
She scored 75 runs against Australia in Visakhapatnam and followed it up with a match-winning 122 against New Zealand, where she also achieved the milestone of being the joint-fastest player to reach 1000 runs in women's ODIs.
Upcoming Semi-Final Match
The team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, is set to face the defending champions, Australia Women, in the second semi-final of the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup, scheduled to take place at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, September 30.
